You see, when it comes to Tulum, its unique style, smell, music, nature, and it's charming atmosphere transcend its environment, even in what is being sold in stores and boutiques.

Even thou you can discover typical "touristic" accessories and souvenirs, Tulum's shopping experience is very different from that of its neighbouring cities like Playa Del Carmen and Cancun. Instead of choosing between mass-manufactured items, you will find an array of handmade artcrafts from different parts of Mexico, each with its own unique story and tradition.

This article will reveal such a place, its mission, and it’s love.

Barro, palm baskets, mirrors and traditional Mexican artcrafts in Magico Studio, Tulum.

The store is "Conesencia Studio," where attention to tradition and pride for generational Mexican craftsmanship is interwoven with floral and wooden scents floating on thin clouds of copal, as an array of unique and captivating products arranged in a visual symphony, bound by the love of the owners to the store and tradition.

Conesencia Studio it as its mission to seek unique and traditional artisans around Mexico, exploring remote villages and cities and connecting the world to the proud work of families with generational secrets of their craftsmanship. The place where the world gets to meet the true craftsmanship of Mexico. It is in this place where many Tulum boutiques get their products from or use it as their inspiration.

If you read our other articles on Tulum, you already know that this little city is divided into two major parts: Tulum pueblo and Zona Hotelera. If you want t to learn more about these two zones, you can read about their unique features here. When it comes to the shopping experience same rule applies as with accommodation and restaurants: Tulum Pueblo offers better prices, while Zona Hotelera offers a wider variety and deeper cultural integration at a much (much) stripper price. Most people do not know that almost everything sold in the Zona Hotelera can be found at 1/3 the price not that far away. In the hands of people who pride themselves on uniting unique cultural values of the remote sites of Mexico with the world, in the local store called "Conesencia Studio." To spill one secret for you: a lot of items sold in Zona Hotelera are bought in that studio/store 🤫.

The secret of "Conesencia Studio," as we mentioned earlier, is that its owners take satisfaction in Mexican culture to the point that they travel to remote corners of Mexico searching for hidden cultural gems. Some very remote Mexcian villages pride themselves on generational tradition in pottery, some with unique artisan skills of making baskets out of local palms, and some use old family technics to create unique clothes and carpets. Typically, these items are unavailable for the average tourist as, again, they can only be found in very remote and secluded villages. It is almost like a hunt for treasures. Conesencia Studio aims to uncover these gems to the world and acts as a mediator between the real cultural weight of handmade artcraft and the external world. The pride of Mexican artisans.
